Local Activities

Golf

Golf is available on a pay as you play basis at Sconser Golf Club which is located on Sligachan Road at Sconser. As the crow flies, Sconser is to your right from the lounge window, but the road doubles back to the main Portree/Kyleakin road and you follow the signs.

Dunvegan Castle

To the north west is worth a visit given that it is Skye’s premier tourism destination and is also the seat of the Clan MacLeod worldwide. Dunvegan Castle therefore is steeped in history.

Walking

Hill walkers are in paradise because of the many walks in the area. If you have the time do visit Glenbrittle which is to the west of Carbost and is located at the foot of the Cuillin mountain range, with an excellent sheltered beach zone with the mountains towering over you.

Going up the west coast of Skye through Portree you come to places like Staffin and its magnificent structure called The Old Man of Storr, again providing excellent hill walking opportunities at lower levels. From this destination you can go around the top of the island via Kilmuir and end up back at Uig, which is one of the major ferry ports to the Western Isles and has the usual services including Uig Hotel on its doorstep. You move back in to Portree to the south via Kensaleyre.

"I don't think I have been anywhere in the world with such amazing views."
